Opening Day – A Great Success!

We are pleased to share with you that over 300 people visited the North Oshawa Farmers’ Market at our Grand Opening on June 12.

North Oshawa Farmers' Market Opening Day

“There was great excitement in the air. I was greeted by people who had lived in the area since 1975 who were thrilled to finally be able to attend a local farmers’ market. There were also many young families, students and seniors all enjoying the outdoor market, fresh local produce and friendly greetings from everyone.” said Kirk Lowe, president and founder of the North Oshawa Farmers’ Market.

12 vendors shared over 200 feet of fresh and homemade food. We’re expecting to introduce up to 4 more new vendors as early as June 19th.

“Not even cloudy skies and overcast weather could dampen the spirit and excitement of our new market. Everyone was delighted with the entire day and we look forward to growing the market into something very special for the community.”  said Market Manager, Bridget Williams.

We invite you to share the excitement of our ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by April Cullen who was instrumental in helping the market get off the ground. Ontario Motor Sales and other sponsors were also in attendance. Again, we thank all of our sponsors for their support and critical funding to get us started.

Volunteers Needed!

We are well organized but extra volunteers would be greatly appreciated.

We need volunteers to help with:

  • Saturday Market Volunteers – people to walk around and help guests with questions. We need 2 market volunteers per week.
  • Treasurer – We need a treasurer with some experience in this capacity if possible. WE NOW HAVE A TREASURER! Thank you John!
  • Secretary – We need administrative help also – a few hours a week for the first few weeks, then a more limited role.
